Eligibility for Study Abroad
Eligibility requirements vary from program to program. As you explore programs, look closely at their requirements.
To be eligible for off-campus study, students must:
• Be in good academic standing (> 2.5 GPA for all programs; some programs have higher requirements)
• Must not be on probation (academic or disciplinary) during any part of the proposed period of study abroad
• Have successfully completed at least one year of college/university/higher education.
• Transfer students are eligible after they have successfully completed one semester of full-time study at UMass Boston.
Have a strong command of the language in which they plan to take university-level courses.
Most programs require at least two academic semesters of the language spoken in the host country or region.
Language acquisition programs accept students at any level
There are also many opportunities to study in countries where the native language is English, or courses are offered in English.
